Humanity is at the mercy of now established catastrophes and other events previously considered impossible yet tangible, consequences of human actions on territorial, social and climate structures. We all know, although the Anthropocene began with us, it will probably end without us. Nonetheless, people have already become familiar with finitude, with immobility. And they continue to live their lives, getting used to every new event that subverts everyday habits.

It is with this baggage of contemporary immobility that we explore Anna Scalfi Eghenter’s project for Ar/Ge Kunst, "The Fluo Swan" which is open to the public since September 19, 2024. Ar/Ge Kunst here becomes a business, one in which individuals may enter into a contractual performance: people will be able to make insurances to compensate for the institutional shortcomings in defending the rights of the people, in the face of a rare, unpredictable and unimagined possible event: that known as a black swan.
