BORDERS, EXCLUSION AND THE CRIMINALIZATION/MARGINALIZATION OF PEOPLE ON THE MOVE.
A conversation with Alessio Giordano.

June 23, 2026, 7:00 PM—8:00 PM

Over the past decade, a wide range of measures have been implemented at European, national and provincial levels to marginalise and criminalise people on the move: from the externalisation of borders and pushbacks to bureaucratic and architectural hostility, as well as preventive administrative measures. Drawing on these developments, Alessio Giordano will discuss the transformation of migration policies in recent years, examining the mechanisms that regulate access, reception and exclusion, and their broader social and political consequences.

Alessio Giordano (Brixen/Bressanone, 1983) is a freelance journalist and contributor to Altreconomia, where he focuses on social justice and migration. Until 2019, he worked in Bolzano/Bozen as a social worker supporting people experiencing severe marginalisation and asylum seekers applying for international protection.

The event is part of the public programme of Solastalgia, the exhibition by Sofia Melluso and Gianluca Concialdi currently on view at Ar/Ge Kunst. Through installations, images and narratives, the exhibition reflects on the transformation of places under the pressure of global tourism, exploring the relationships between mobility, belonging and social change.
