A dead body found on an Alpine glacier between Italy and Austria re-animates a border dispute that had lain dormant for years. While European states negotiate the abolition of their internal barriers, the body travels back and forth, moving not only in space but also in status: first corpse, then exhibit. Meanwhile, the border has not disappeared, but remains eerily present, waiting to be reinvoked.

In Notes for ‘The Spirit of Schengen’ Lorenzo Pezzani will share insights into the making of his latest film. With reference to excerpts of new and found footage he’ll discuss the visual material, the writing and the editing process with Emanuele Guidi, artistic director of ar/ge kunst.

The film The Spirit of Schengen was commissioned and produced by ar/ge kunst in the context of the exhibition ‘Hostile Environment'(s)part of the One Year-Long Research Project / Fourth.
