SOLASTALGIA IN SOUTH TYROL?
Claudia Plaikner and Florian Trojer in conversation with Hannes Egger.
Language: German
The term "solastalgia" describes the distressing sense of loss that arises when people witness the transformation or destruction of their immediate environment or ancestral lands, leaving them increasingly feeling uprooted. By contrast, the South Tyrolean Heritage Association is committed to protecting and preserving the rich cultural and natural landscape of South Tyrol. Together with the Association's President, Claudia Plaikner, and its Executive Director, Florian Trojer, Hannes Egger will discuss whether a sense of solastalgia can also be observed in South Tyrol and, if so, what the underlying causes of this phenomenon might be.
Claudia Plaikner is an educator, active in the South Tyrolean Heritage Association since 1996 and has served as its president since 2017.
Florian Trojer is a historian and managing director of the South Tyrolean Heritage Association.
Hannes Egger is an independent conceptual artist, curator, and writer. Since 2024, he serves on the board of Ar/Ge Kunst.
